Enjoy a cycling holiday where you stay in the same charming hotel for 5 nights. This gives you more time to relax and to concentrate on fully exploring the island of Møn without the hazzle of packing and unpacking luggage.
Daily stages til take you in various directions on the island of Møn and to the car free island of Nyord. You will cycle through forests, small quiet villages and open landscapes with stunning views to the Baltic Sea.
Both Møn and Nyord have been designated the first ever dark sky park and community in the Nordic region. This undisturbed night darkness will give you the best opportunity to see a sky full of stars and the Milky Way accross the sky
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Stege
Check-in to your hotel in Stege from 2pm. You are also welcome to arrive early and leave your luggage at the reception, giving you more time to get aquainted with Stege.
Jump on your bikes for a bike ride around the local area and explore the town of Stege with its narrow streets and local specialty shops, cafes, restaurants and museums.
Day 2: King Asger's Hill. ca. 27 km
After breakfast you cycle in Werstern direction. Some of today's route you will be cycling close the caast with stunning views of the Baltic Sea and to the Møn countryside. You then turn away from the sea and arrive at King Asger's Hill. From the top of the hill you can enjoy a fantastic 380 degree view of the area. You can also enter the burial mound, which is one of the largest burial mounds on the island of Møn and is regarded as one of the finest in Denmark.
As you head back towards Stege you will get to cycle through local farmland and small quaint villages.
Day 3: Møns Klint. Ca. 44 km
After breakfast you pack your bags and head out on one of this tour's longer stages, taking you across the island of Møn to Møns Klint - the famous white cliffs on the far Eastern coast of Møn. Here you can visit the Geocenter where you can learn and play your way through Denmark's astonishing past - 70 million years back in time.
You can also walk down the stairs to the pebble beach where you have the most fantastic view of the cliffs, and mayby you will be lucky to see one of the seals that enjoy coming here for a rest.
Today's route will also take you past several burial mounds from the Bronze Age where you can stop and enjoy views of the this part of Møn. Stop at Liselund 1700s neoclassical palace and garden to enjoy a quiet moment before continuing your route which will take you through a very special area with rare orchids that grow here because of the calcareous soil.
Day 4: The car free island of Nyord. Ca. 29 km
After breakfast, you jump on your bikes to explore today's bike trip to and from the tiny charming island of Nyord. The route will take you along Stege rampart, through the forests Udbyskov and Ulvshaleskov and across the bridge to the island of Nyord. Climb the bird tower to explore the local bird life and take in the beautiful view of the Stege Bay.
In the small charming village of Nyord, where time seems to stand still, you can buy locally produced marmalade or snaps from one the street booths outside family homes, so remember to bring some cash on today's tour.
Take a break and enjoy your lunch on the Camøno bench at Nyord harbor before heading back to Stege along the coastline and past curious grazing cows.
After a more relazed day of cycling you might want to treat yourself with a lovely 3-course dinner at one of the local restaurants in Stege.
Day 5: South Møn and the Baltic Sea. Ca. 33 km
Today you're heading to the area south of Stege, past the south of Stege Nor, through small villages overlooking the Nor. Stop at the historic farm house Museumsgården - today a museum - and enjoy your lunch from a beautiful spot in the lovely farm house garden.
On today's route you will pass Keldby Church which is famous for its well preserved frescos from the 1400s depicting everyday life back in those days. Have a closer look at the frescos and you will notice many small humerous details.
Møn is also famous for its locally produced organic ice cream Møn Is so if you like ice cream, it is a must to taste it. Your route will take you to the dairy where you can cuddle the cow that delivered the milk before choosing your favourite flavour.
Day 6: Check-out + Damsholte. 20 km
After enjoying your breakfast and checking-out of your room we recommend you head out on a little bike ride to explore a little more of Møn.
Today's cycle route will take you to the small town of Damsholte where we recommend a visit inside Denmark's only village church in rococo style built in 1743. There is a special story connected to the building of this church which you can read about in your tour material.
Continue your bike ride past the old sugar factory before taking a break and enjoying the beautiful views overlooking the coast lagoon Stege Nor.
Returning to Stege it is time to leave the rented bikes and pick up your luggage before heading back home or continuing your journey.
